Christian Bourdon - 10 Things about Me
My favorite Russian Dish! ..so far..
I think one of the best dishes I have tried so far was the Oladi. Ms. Pervushna described them as a mini pancake but to me the tastes even better than that. On mine I had condensed milk and some type of fruit sauce. And I of course went back for seconds. So I tried to make my own at home but I am definitely not a chef so they ended up kinda like this:
But the the ones we mad together we're amazing.

Yummy Russian Treats
So my favorite meal of all of the meals that we tried over the course if this seminar was the rice, gravy, and beef meal. It's is very simple which is part of the reason that I enjoyed it so much. This easily could have been something that my mother prepared at home for dinner. I think that it is amazy how similar two culture, that are miles apart, can be. I would definately try this meal again!!
Tea Party
A couple of weeks ago we had a Russian themed tea party. It was all very nice. I've had tea before, but I've never had a tea party. It was very relaxing to sit around and enjoy the tea and Russian snacks with other people. In my culture we don't usually have tea parties, we rarely even drink tea. But it was a nice to experience a Russian tea party. I can't exactly remember the names of all the snacks but they were great!

A Day in the Life of a Payton Student
I wake up at 6:10 AM every day. I have to begin every day with a shower to wake up. After I get dressed and have oatmeal for breakfast, I pack my bag and make myself a mug of green tea to drink on the way to school. After a five minute wait just outside my house, I get on the #22 bus to go to school.
I usually get to school around 7:30 AM, so I have 30 minutes to talk with friends before school starts at 8. For the first class, everyone goes to a homeroom called an "advisory". During this 10 minute period, the teachers take attendance and make important announcements.
My first class of the day is usually Calculus; the Payton schedule is set up so that you only take four classes per day out of a total of eight, so you end up having each class every other day. In AP Calculus, we're currently mainly just reviewing for the AP test - an exam that takes place in early May.
After Calculus, I go to 20th Century History, where we just finished a unit on the Cold War and are now studying genocides. My next class of the day is AP English Language and Composition: a writing-intensive class that also has a May exam.
In the middle of the day, I have 45 minutes for lunch; I have to bring my lunch with me, or purchase one at school, because I am in 11th grade, but seniors (12th-graders) are allowed to leave school to buy lunch at local stores.
My last class of the day is AP US Government and Politics. The class is taught by the principal; it's centered around in-class discussion and case study, but we're now moving into review for our May exam.
The next day, I take AP Statistics, Biology, and Spanish III, and the cycle repeats itself.
After school, I go to water polo practice. I come home exhausted, eat dinner and do my homework, study for any tests I have later in the week, and go to bed around 11:00PM.

Today we are making buckwheat with beef stew and it's not ready yet but it looks good and is supposed to be good for your digestive health. If nothing else it will be an interesting experience.

Biggest Fish Eggs I Have Ever Seen
Today, hungry, as always, I walked into our Russian seminar, looking forward to a delicious treat. Imagine my surprise, my delight, when I was greeted with a heaping plate of buterbrodi s ikroy. Now, if your like me, that will make little to no sense to you, so please, allow me to elaborate. It was essentially bread, butter, and caviar. Needless to say, it was delicious. Its flavor, slightly reminiscent of LOX, its texture not unlike the jelly pearls atop frozen yogurt, its appearance, a pile of pink and white, made for an overall exciting and unique delicacy. I can't wait until the next time I'll be able to try it again. Do Svidanya!
